  1. Hi my name is Susan and I make handmade jewellery for Weddings, Special Occasions and every day wear. This is my blog on my website. I have been very busy for the past couple of months with making more different jewellery pieces, updating my photos on my website and there are still a lot more of new jewellery pieces to come.

Today I am going to tell you about my SUMMER SALE which is on for the whole of July and you are getting 30% off everything you buy from my website and also my Etsy shop. I have not had a Summer Sale for this length of time before but I thought I would try this and see what happens.

This is one of my new seaglass pendant necklaces. It is a dark green piece of seaglass with a sterling silver leaf bail and a silver plated link chain necklace.

This next one is also one of my new seaglass pendant necklaces. It is a wirewrapped pale blue piece of seaglass with a copper bail and wirewrapped with copper wire.  It is on a double strand of blue leather necklace and I think this one is really lovely as blue is my favourite colour.

This next one is a new hematite seahorse pendant with a copper bail on a rose gold plated chain.  I love hematite and think this seahorse pendant is lovely. I have made a couple of different hematite seahorse pendants but I am only going to show you this one. You can see the rest of them in the pendants section on my website.

This last one is a Swaraovski Crystal Key blue pearls and blue crystals elasticated charm bracelet.  It looks very classy and is of course my favourite colour. I have made myself a similar bracelet to this with a lighter blue key.

    The Origins Of Mothers Day

As it is Mother's Day this Sunday 31 March, I am going to tell you about the Origins of Mother's Day.

The origins of Mother's Day dates back to ancient Greece and Rome. The earliest history of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses. The Greeks used the occasion to honour Rhea who was the wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of Greek mythology. Ancient Romans also celebrated a spring festival, called Hilaria which was dedicated to Cybele, a mother goddess.

Early Christians in England in the 17th century had a Mother's Day celebration in honour of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ, by having a festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent which is the 40 day period leading up to Easter. After a prayer service in church to honour Virgin Mary, children brought gifts and flowers to pay tribute to their own mothers. In England this holiday was expanded to include all mothers. It was then called Mothering Sunday and is celebrated every year in many countries but not all on the same date.  This year, Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom is on Sunday 11 March.  Many other countries do not celebrate Mother's Day until May but the United Kingdom always celebrates it in March.

Mother’s Day is now a tradition for children giving their mother a card and a gift to show them how much they love them. A gift could be chocolates or an item of jewellery.

As you all know, I make jewellery and this lovely amethyst heart pendant pearl and crystals necklace will make a lovely Mother's Day gift. If it is not to your taste then you will find lots more items of jewellery in my online shop.
